A different way of doing your single leg calf raise which makes it more transferable into running patterns. By putting intent into the non-working hip you make the single leg calf raise a much more global exercise. Ipsilateral loaded means "loading on the same side" which in this example is the same side as the calf which is working. By putting a weight on this side it affords you extra stability and therefore more load into the calf and achilles of the working side, rather than increasing the stability challenge that would occur if the weight was being held in the other hand.
